Book Resources

I love reading books, since 2012 I’ve been reading a lot of Personal/Professional Development Books, but I also love reading romance books as well, especially when I want to switch off and have some downtime.  But reading physical books tends to send me to sleep within a few pages.

Then in 2013, I discovered Audible and in 2020 I discovered Kindle Unlimited.

So what normally happens now is that I listen to a book on Audible, and if I fall in love with it or want to remember things from it that I can look up at a later date, I go and purchase the physical book so I can write/highlight all the way through it and have access to it at all times.  I know in Audible you can bookmark things, but I like to have the physical book for this. 🙂

Same as with the Kindle Unlimited subscription, because it is basically having a library, if I want to actually keep the book, write/highlight in it, then I go and purchase the physical book for this purpose.

Audible

Audible is the best thing since sliced bread 😛

Direct from Audible -> Audible is the leading creator and provider of premium audio storytelling, offering customers a rich destination for insight and inspiration to enhance their daily lives.

Apart from learning from books, I love bike riding and driving my car long distances and although I love listening to music, my brain doesn’t ‘turn off’ a lot so I often listen to books or podcasts while I am driving or riding.

When I discovered Audible, I was beside myself.  Although I love reading physical books, as I stated above, they often put me to sleep within a few pages in.  When I discovered Audible it was like all my Christmas’ had come at once.  I could now smash out quite a few books a month if I wanted to.  I could listen to them while driving while riding my bike while cleaning the house while crocheting while doing Paint by Numbers on my iPad etc.  Now, in 2023 I don’t often watch TV, my TV usually only goes on if I want to watch sport, most of the time I am listening to something on Audible.

I actually have 2 Audible Accounts, an American one and an Australian one.  When I first started subscribing to Audible there was only one subscription on offer and this was through America.  Then at some stage a few years later I was after a book that was written by and Australian author but couldn’t find it on Audible.  After doing some research I discovered it was on Audible, but through the Australian store, so I then subscribed to the Australian store as well.  I could probably have gotten all the books I had purchased moved to one account, but I liked having the ability to buy different books from different locations.

Kindle Unlimted

I only discovered Kindle Unlimted a few years ago and the reason I came across it was that I was searching for a book that wasn’t an audiobook and discovered I could get it as a Kindle book, then I discovered that I could subscribe to Kindle Unlimited and it would be just like having access to a library through my iPad.
